The French words “crème de la crème” literally “cream of the cream”….and that is exactly what this summer camp is when it comes to fashion. One of the best summer camps I’ve attended (and I’ve attended quite a few) in Los Angeles is at the Unincorporated Life near downtown LA. During each week of camp, you work with several amazing teachers who are young and innovative fashion minded folk who have had formal education in the world of fashion, design, illustration, sewing and production. You start off by creating a storyboard: illustrating your clothing line, coming up with your label’s name, brand and identity, as well as fabric and magazine cut-outs for inspiration. Then you get to lots of sewing. It’s a mini Project Runway type experience culminating with…yep, you guessed it – a formal runway show. Super fun, and super awesome.
